Our botanicals
What does FAYNAN make?
Botanical beauty for hair, face and body, inspired by the plants long familiar across the Middle East. Our range includes the Botanical Hair Ritual Oil, a finished pre-wash blend, and Pure Botanicals: single-ingredient oils, essential oils and powders, each named plainly with nothing added. Everything is made in Jordan, in small numbered batches.
What is the difference between the Ritual Oil and a Pure Botanical?
The Botanical Hair Ritual Oil brings several botanicals together for one moment: before you shampoo. A Pure Botanical is a single ingredient you can use on its own or in your own routine, such as Date Seed Oil for hair, body and face.
Are your products cosmetics or treatments?
They are cosmetics: botanical beauty for hair, face and body, inspired by the heritage of the Middle East.
Using your products
What is a pre-wash hair oil?
A hair oil used on dry hair before shampooing and washed out as part of wash day. A finishing oil is used after washing or styling and stays on the hair. Read Pre-Wash vs. Finishing Hair Oil.
How do I use the Botanical Hair Ritual Oil?
Apply a small amount to dry hair and scalp. Massage gently and distribute through lengths and ends. Leave for approximately 20–30 minutes, then shampoo thoroughly. See the ritual for amounts by hair type, or our weekly wash-day routine.
Can I use an essential oil straight on my skin?
No. Rosemary, Turmeric, Dill Seed and Frankincense Essential Oils are concentrates and must always be diluted in a carrier oil, such as Date Seed or Grapeseed Oil. Start with one to two drops per teaspoon (5 mL). Read Essential Oils and Carrier Oils.
How do I use the powders?
Sidr, Henna, Mashat and Pomegranate Peel powders are mixed with warm water (or rose water, for a face mask) into a smooth paste just before use. Each product page gives the amount and resting time. For the Sidr wash, follow How to Use Sidr Powder for Hair.
What color will Pure Henna give?
Red-copper tones, and nothing darker. Pure henna does not lighten hair or make it black or brown. It is for hair only, not for skin, eyebrows or eyelashes. Do a strand test and a skin allergy test 48 hours before each use. Read How to Use Pure Henna on Hair.
Will Mashat color my hair?
Mashat contains henna, so it may leave a subtle red tint, most visible on light, grey or color-treated hair. Strand test first. Read What Is Mashat?
Can I use a face oil in the morning?
Yes, in a very small amount under your usual sun protection. Grapeseed and Jojoba Oils are light choices for the morning; Pomegranate Seed, Prickly Pear Seed and Saffron Face Oils suit the evening. None of our oils is a sunscreen. Read How to Choose a Face Oil.
Ingredients and allergens
Does the Botanical Hair Ritual Oil contain nuts or sesame?
Yes. It contains wild pistachio (a tree nut) and sesame oil, which is the carrier for its Sidr and Fenugreek infusions. Do not use it if you are allergic to tree nuts or sesame.
What is in a Pure Botanical?
One ingredient, with nothing added. The full ingredient name appears on each product page and on the label.
Should I patch test?
Yes. Before first use of any product, test on a small area of skin. For essential oils, test the diluted blend. For henna and Mashat, also do a strand test 48 hours before each use.
Orders and shipping
Where does my order ship from?
From our main warehouse in Jordan. Orders are prepared within 3 business days.
How long does shipping take?
Prepared within 3 business days, then 10–15 business days in transit, with tracking. If your order has not arrived within 30 business days after dispatch, contact us for investigation and resolution. See our Shipping Policy.
Is shipping free?
Free Economy Shipping is included in the selling price for eligible destinations offered at checkout. Orders ship from Jordan.
Import duties and taxes
Prices exclude import duties, taxes and customs fees, which are the buyer's responsibility. Any taxes we are required to collect are shown at checkout.
Returns and help
How can I request a return?
Contact us within 14 calendar days after delivery to request an eligible unopened, unused change-of-mind return. See our Returns & Refunds Policy.
What should I do if irritation occurs?
Discontinue use and contact Product Safety support. Include your order number and lot or batch number if available, with a factual description. Seek appropriate medical attention if you are concerned about symptoms.
